MIRIAM MA’ARAVI and friends

CONCERT and CD RELEASE PARTY

as they celebrate the release of her new album

LEARN TO FORGIVE THEM

 Sunday, August 10, 2014  6 – 8 p.m.     Tickets $10 at the door

Opening for Miriam will be Joshua Polak and Rabbi Shuviel Ma’aravi.

Chimera (Miriam Ma’aravi) is a singer-songwriter. Hailing from Seattle, she is known for her diverse sound and lyrical compositions meant to inspire curiosity with her sometimes controversial topics and personal statements.  Some material has mature content, but all of her music will leave you absorbed and wanting more.

Rabbi Shuviel Ma’aravi discovered his Sephardic Jewish origins in his early teens. During the years that followed he became an accomplished folk performer in Canton Ohio. His intense interest in Torah led him to study at Yeshivath Ahavath Torah in Jerusalem eventually receiving semicha from Rabbi Zalman Nehemia Goldberg, שליט”א. He served as a pulpit rabbi at Etz Haim Sephardic Congregation in Indianapolis, Indiana. It was natural for the Rabbi to have a growing interested in the rich Ladino musical tradition. He began to see parallels between the themes of love, loss, exile and redemption in the Sephardic songs and similar themes in Chassidic and other folk traditions reflected in this new collection.

Josh Polak is the proprietor of Guitars of Pikesville; a small family operated shop in Pikesville. He has been teaching guitar in the Pikesville area for many years while performing with his daughter Esther whose whistle playing can be heard on the Guitars of Pikesville’s YouTube channel.

The CD was produced at Ty Ford Studio www.tyford.com
