Baltimore Symphony Associates is celebrating 75 years of volunteering and fundraising support for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s education programs with their biggest fundraiser of the year, the 40th BSA Decorators’ Show House, April 30 – May 21, 2017. Started in 1977, the Show House has become one of Maryland’s most anticipated events of the spring, drawing visitors from across the Mid-Atlantic to tour the magnificent homes decorated by some of Maryland’s most talented interior designers.

This year’s featured home is historic Mayfair in Timonium, a former home to one of the members of the Cockey family for which the town of Cockeysville is named. The three-story stone house was built in 1812 and sits on the once vast Mayfair farm estate that has since been developed into the Mays Chapel community. Hidden by trees and sitting on five acres of grounds, few people, even neighbors, know that the grand old mansion exists, adding to the interest and excitement of this year’s event.

Designers from across the state will decorate more than 20 different design spaces, taking inspiration from the home itself, the surrounding landscape, the community and their own personal flair. From wall and window treatments to floor coverings and more, designers are encouraged to let their imaginations run free. Most furnishings and accessories are available for purchase.

All of the proceeds from the Show House go to support the BSO’s educational programs including OrchKids, the Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestras, the Music Box Series for toddlers, Saturday family concerts and the BSO’s midweek education concerts, which impacts the lives of more than 55,000 students from Baltimore and surrounding counties each year.

Peter T. Kjome, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s new President and CEO, and his wife Kristen Morrison, are this year’s honorary chairpersons and will cut the grand opening ribbon for the home at noon on April 30th.

The home is open daily. Hours for the BSA Decorators’ Show House are 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday; noon – 4 p.m. Sunday.
