World-famous artist and calligrapher Mordechai Rosenstein visits Beth Shalom with a multi-faceted, interactive program for the whole family
Thursday, 11/9 @ 7:45 p.m. : Art Makes a Mark – Don’t miss this fun and humorous interactive presentation discussing how art enriches our lives. Mordechai will display works created for the Pope, Isaac Stern, Ron Perlman, Yitzhak Shamir, the Clintons, the Bushes, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and others. Appropriate for teens and adults.
Friday, 11/10 @ 5:45 p.m. (Shabbat Dinner $) : Shabbat Dinner and Services. Shabbat dinner will be a meat meal (with a vegetarian option) followed by Tot Shabbat and the lecture “My Journey as an Artist” with Mordechai Rosenstein. The evening will conclude with Shabbat services at 8 p.m. , during which Rabbi Grossman discusses “CSI Israel: The Mystery of Ancient Synagogue Art.” Join Rabbi Grossman for this participatory mini-exploration of some of the most surprising images found in Israel’s ancient synagogues.
Saturday, 11/11 @ 9:30 a.m. (FREE) : Shabbat Morning Services. Mordechai Rosenstein will present a special D’var Torah on how the week’s Torah parsha relates to art. Light Kiddush lunch to follow with a Q&A session with Mordechai.
Saturday, 11/11 @ 8 p.m. ($) : Pinot & Painting. The popular paint night social event comes to Beth Shalom (for teens and adults!). Bring your friends to this extraordinary program led by Mordechai and head home with a work of art of your very own! Cost includes art supplies, wine, non-alcoholic beverages and appetizers. Babysitting available for $18/child with advanced registration.
