Bicyclists Come Together for a Good Cause and to Remember Larry Bensky

On Sunday, September 15, 2013, the Fourth Annual Larry’s Ride will kick off from its new location at the JCC’s Camp Milldale in honor of local cyclist Larry Bensky, who tragically lost his life while biking in 2010. The event will feature three different bicycle routes, a 65-, 35- and 15-mile ride, as well as fun post-race activities.

Larry’s Ride is a Bike Maryland fundraising event that raises awareness of bicyclists and bicycle safety issues. With three different bike routes, there is something for individuals of all physical abilities.  Following the rides, all registered participants, including non-cyclists, will enjoy lunch, kid’s activities, music, and more.  All friends and family are welcome to attend, participate and enjoy the day!

On April 6, 2010, 43-year-old Larry Bensky was struck by a car and killed while bicycling on Butler Road, near Falls Road, in Baltimore County.  Bensky left behind a wife, two daughters, six brothers and many others who had the pleasure of knowing him.

All proceeds will benefit Bike Maryland’s mission to promote bicycling, increase safety, improve conditions and provide a voice for all bicyclists in Maryland.  Help raise awareness of bicyclists and bicycle safety issues to prevent similar tragedies by celebrating Bensky’s life, one mile at a time.
