Soul Body Barre Workout + Dark Chocolates and Biodynamic Wines

Soul Body Barre Workout + Dark Chocolates and Biodynamic Wines

Wednesday,  October 22nd

5:30-7 pm

Energize, strengthen and nourish your body! Begin with Soul Body’s invigorating workout to tighten your core and tone your thighs, hips and seat (30 minutes).  Then discover the heart-healthy benefits of certain dark chocolates and red wines. While sampling this delectable pair, you’ll learn which wines are biodynamic and which chocolates are truly dark. There IS a difference, and it matters.

Pure foods and small movements that work deep into the muscles are the foundation of Soul Body workshops. Soul Body founders Ann Marie Barbour and Stacey Vandiver transform these elements into unique experiences that empower people to achieve their bodies’ full potential. Their popular workshops are shaped by Ann Marie and Stacey’s extensive travel, research, classical Pilates training, and network of fitness and nutrition experts.

FACES 2014

Join The Children’s Home for one of Baltimore’s premier fundraisers! This chic and savory evening will offer an amazing collection of wine, chef cuisine and an assortment of incredible desserts. Demonstrate your own artistic style at interactive art tables and a photo booth and also enjoy a one-of-a-kind dinner performance by the Morgan State University five-piece combo band.

The event highlight will be the live and silent auctions featuring a variety of special items, along with unique artwork created by the at-risk children and youth (resident artists) living at The Children’s Home prepared as part of a special mentorship project with Towson University School of Fine Arts.

This year’s event theme is “FACES Identity Discovery – ID.” Residents in The Children’s Home’s care respond positively to art as an innovative approach to rebuilding their lives. FACES will showcase their courage for positive change, along with their innate artistic talent.

FACES 2014 admission is $75/person through Oct. 10, and $100/person, Oct. 11 through event day ticket sales at the door.  Proceeds will help sustain quality programs and services for at-risk children, youth and their families.  For more information or to purchase tickets, call 410-744-7310 or visit thechildrenshome2014.brownpapertickets.com.

Baltimore African Violet & Gesneriad Club’s Annual Fall Sale

The Baltimore African Violet & Gesneriad

Club’s  Annual Fall Sale

The Baltimore African Violet & Gesneriad Club will hold their annual fall sale at The Shops at Kenilworth, 800 Kenilworth Drive, Towson MD on Saturday, October 25, 2014. Hours are 9am-5pm. Hundreds of beautiful African violets and other exotic houseplants will be offered for sale, plus leaves, cuttings, soil mix, plant rings, self-watering pots and much more.

Also, we will be holding a plant clinic from 1:00PM to 3:00PM. Club members  will repot your troubled violets and discuss any growing problems you have. We encourage you to bring in that plant with the long neck or a violet that hasn’t bloomed in years. Our expert growers are ready to assist you. Of course, we will answer questions all day long, but this will be your chance to have “hands on help”.
