Patio Party

Join the Maryland Science Center this summer for Patio Parties. Bring the family, neighbors, and your friends for adult beverages, family-friendly live bands and light fare outside on the Science Center’s waterfront patio.

Performing this week: The Herd of Main Street. The Herd of Main Street gives us a blend of rock, folk, and country, with a distinct sound that the Baltimore City Paper dubbed as “Omni-Americana.” Native to Baltimore, this five-piece ensemble has rocked stages from here all the way to South By Southwest.

Patio Parties are free to attend; museum exploration is an additional $9 and includes the IMAX and Planetarium. Beer, wine and soda are available for purchase.

Power This! – Girl Power!

Join us for the opening of The Electrified Pickle as we explore the world of power with some exciting experiments. We will electrify pickles (learn how these tasty treats can be transformed into light bulbs), create batteries, use potatoes as batteries and create circuits using special play-doh.

We are also highlighting Girl Power (although, everyone, of course, is welcome)! This is a day to empower our future female innovators! We will have a team of female engineers and scientists on hand to explain the principles that you will see in action. Everyone will get to take home their own memento of the day.

Electrified Pickle Community Kick-off Party!

A special evening for our neighbors that is completely free! Extreme Jean will wow us with her wacky science experiments that have kept audiences’ eyes glued and anticipating the next wonder. We’ll also be calling on our neighbors to help us start our community art project. In partnership with Mosaic Makers, participants will create mosaics that will help decorate the façade of 5 Lloyd Street (the building just north of the Lloyd Street Synagogue).
