Empty Bowls Project at The Harbour School

Empty Bowls Project
The Harbour School – Helping to Feed People in Need

The Harbour School
11251 Dolfield Blvd. Owings Mills, Maryland
Phone: 443-394-3760
Date of Event: Bowls will be painted on 12/5/13 and 12/6/13 Time: During the school day—call for specific times

Students and staff at The Harbour School at Baltimore are working on solving world hunger as a school wide project. In April, they will hold a Museum Day in which each classroom will exhibit, in an interactive way, their method of solving world hunger. In conjunction with their Museum project and the school’s winter holiday performance, the students will be helping the community with an Empty Bowls event (www.emptybowls.net). Our students will have the opportunity to paint a bowl. On the evening of the holiday performance, family and friends will be able to buy a bowl of homemade soup (prepared by The Harbour School chef and students) in one of these hand painted bowls. The bowls are $10.00 and all proceeds will be donated to the food pantry at the Reisterstown United Methodist Church. They serve over 200 families in the Reisterstown/Glyndon community and never turn anyone away.

The Harbour School is a nonpublic school serving students ages 6-21. Students at the school have been diagnosed as having learning disabilities, high functioning autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, other health impaired (primarily ADHD) and multi-disabled.
