This family-friendly BBQ will feature food, drink and fellowship with other Y families – including games and contests! Le Havre film screening with Washington Post film critic Ann Hornaday

Join us for a screening of this award winning film.  The French port city of Le Havre is HOME for this warm-hearted, hopeful tale of Idrissa, a young boy from Gabon eluding deportation, and Marcel, a self-described bohemian who organizes his community to shelter the youth .

Enjoy bagels and coffee, film notes by Washington Post film critic Ann Hornaday, and a lively discussion of the film and the experience of refugees in our local community.  (Film in French with English subtitles.) All proceeds benefit ERICA’s programs supporting Baltimore’s refugee and asylee communities.

Tickets are $20/ $10 for students with i.d.

The Y of Central Maryland will host S’more Summer Fun Day at the Dancel Family Center Y on Saturday, June 21 from 10 a.m. to noon with Priestly from Mix 106.5 FM. In addition to kids’ crafts, balloon animals, family-fun activities and snacks, event attendees will have a chance to win kid-friendly giveaways from Mix 106.5 FM, including movie tickets, CDs, DVDs, tickets to local attractions and more! The Janet & Walter Sondheim Artscape Prize 2014 Finalists

Presented by the Walters and the Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts, this exhibition will show the work of the finalists for the 2014 Janet & Walter Sondheim Artscape Prize. Artists will compete for top honors and a $25,000 fellowship in the Greater Baltimore area’s most prestigious arts competition. The prize assists in furthering the career of a visual artist or visual artist collaborators living and working in this region. Held in conjunction with Artscape, America’s largest free arts festival, the semifinalist and finalist exhibitions will be presented in partnership with the Walters and the Maryland Institute College of Art. The competition winner will be announced at the awards ceremony at the Walters on July 12. Artscape will be July 18–20, 2014.
