Guilford’s “Champagne and Tulips” Centennial Gala
The community of Guilford will celebrate its Centennial with a “Champagne & Tulips” themed black-tie gala to be held at Gertrude’s John Shield’s Restaurant at The Baltimore Museum of Art. The night will feature multi-course fine dining, a Champagne toast, a Centennial photo retrospective, silent auction, live music and dancing. Proceeds from this event will be donated to Stratford Green, the non-profit organization responsible for maintaining Sherwood Gardens.

Mothers Day Family Mah Jongg Marathon
Join us for this Mother’s Day like no other. We are holding a day of Mah Jongg Madness, and everyone is welcome to join! Bring the whole family. Every generation is invited to play together. Learn a new game as a family, or the pros in the family can help teach the novices. We will also have plenty of experts on hand to help explain this fascinating game.
Any level player is welcome, so we will have novice and expert tables! Prizes will be awarded based upon ability category, so everyone has a chance to win, even if you don’t score a single point! Prizes will include a variety of Mah Jongg goodies! Registration is not required but is recommended as places are limited!

Next Generation Building Technologies: A BIG IDEA Program on Material Science
The U.S. Green Building Council Maryland Chapter (USGBC Maryland) is looking towards the future for innovative construction materials. On May 13, USGBC Maryland will host a BIG IDEA Program on Material Science at the University of Maryland Bio Park.
Anna Dyson, Director of the Center for Architecture, Science and Ecology (CASE) and professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, will give a presentation on Next Generation Building Technologies. CASE is a collaboration between institutions and professionals, using actual building projects as research beds for innovative technologies to support a sustainable built environment.
As part of its 10th Anniversary, USGBC Maryland is hosting a wide range of educational programs under the 10 BIG IDEAS campaign. Material Science is the second BIG IDEA in the series.
