The untold story of how 1,300 Jews escaped the Nazis

 Sunday, April 27

7:30 p.m.

To commemorate Yom Hashoah

(Holocaust Remembrance Day)

Question & Answer session after the film

with

Judy Freider Starrels, daughter of one of the rescuers.

A fast-paced, one-hour documentary on how the five Frieder brothers — Cincinnati businessmen making two-for-a-nickel cigars in World War II-era Manila — helped 1,300 Jews escape the Nazis and immigrate to the Philippines. The brothers had plenty of help from an unlikely trio: Manuel Quezon, the charismatic first president of the Philippines; Paul McNutt, U.S. High Commissioner and former governor of Indiana; and an ambitious U.S. Army Colonel named Dwight Eisenhower. This is a fascinating and gripping film. (No MPAA rating).
