8th Annual NEDAwareness Event
The Eating Disorder Network of Maryland will be hosting a FREE, open to the general public event on Sunday, March 2nd, 2014 at 2 pm at Goucher College.  Johanna Kandel, a nationally recognized speaker, advocate, and author will be speaking about:

- Stopping to self-sabotage and sidestep triggers

- Quieting the eating-disordered voice

- Strengthening the health, positive voice

- Overcoming fear and embrace change

- Staying motivated and keep moving forward

Art In The Afternoon: A Celebration of Black History

Take a journey through black history with musician, vocalist and long time Columbia resident John Milton Wesley. Through a remarkable collection of artwork, photographs, and live music Mr. Wesley shares “Salvos: Coincidental Encounters,” a rendition of his personal encounters with influential people.  From Dr. Silas Craft to Emmett Till, Mr. Wesley has been in the presence of local and world renowned people who have left their mark in time.  Mr.  Wesley’s music combines Jazz, R&B, “Old School Soul,” Afro-Cuban, Classical Jazz, and Latin sounds to tell a short story.  FREE event. A Matter of Size (2009) – Film Screening

Sarit Arbell, Director of Cultural Affairs at the Israel Embassy, will introduce the film.

Four overweight friends from the Isaraeli city of Ramle are fed up of dieting and the dieting club they belong to. When Herzl loses his job as a cook and starts working as a dishwasher in a Japanese restaurant in Ramle, he discovers the world of Sumo where large people such as himself are honored and appreciated. (NR estimated to be PG-13)
