The JT’s “Hogan Announces Pikesville Armory Commission Chaired by Zirkin” (Sept. 8) reminded me of a
project I chaired many years ago at the request of then-Baltimore County Executive Ted Venetoulis.
I was appointed to chair the Hannah More Task Force. We were charged to develop a plan to turn the Reisterstown property that included the Hannah More Academy and the church property into a much-needed county facility. Despite strong opposition from well-connected commercial builders, the efforts of our committee members, community and church leaders and local organizations helped us succeed.
Several weeks ago, I had a chance to visit the area for the first time in 12 years and was so impressed to note the great usage of the property today. Hopefully, the Pikesville Armory Commission will have the same success.
