As I was reading “Local Photographer Finds New Life Through the Lens” (Feb. 19) on Norm Dubin and his artwork, I was excited to see that Marcia Bornfriend was mentioned. I live at North Oaks, where Marcia works part time as an art instructor.
Just as Norm Dubin has found new life through the lens, I am exploring art under Marcia’s instruction. North Oaks offers a variety of programs including exercise classes, outdoor trips, book clubs and art classes. Thanks to Marcia, my appreciation for art has grown.
As conveyed through her quote in the article, Marcia is a woman of expertise and class, full of sound advice and encouragement. My classmates and I look forward to the art class every week because Marcia pushes us to think and dream creatively. She comes to every class excited and prepared, treating us with care and professionalism.
It is a privilege to have an art teacher with so much experience in the field. Her real-life experience brings a level of authenticity to her teaching that is all too rare. The North Oaks residents continue to be grateful for the gift of her time and talent. She is a treasure.
