On April 22, Shirley Bell (née Block) in Baltimore of natural causes at 91. Born Feb. 4, 1930, in New York, N.Y. Daughter of the late Fannie and William Block. Predeceased by husband Julius Bell; sisters Sylvia Kasten and Mary Kendall; and son David. Survived by son William; daughter Elizabeth; son-in-law Paul Aumayr; daughter-in-law Rae Ann Bell; granddaughter Juliette; grandson-in-law Raf Seward; and grandson Joshua Bell. She was a graduate of Forest Park High School and spent most of her adult life involved in local community theaters, including The Lord Mayor’s Players, The Spotlighters, Corner Theatre, The Vagabond Players, Cockpit in Court and The Baltimore Playwrights’ Festival, among many others. She did acting, directing, costume design and mainly publicity, and for decades was a fixture on the local theatre scene. She also spent years working as a purchasing agent for former Maryland bank, Mercantile Bank and Trust.
