On Nov. 9, Linda Bloom (née Hurst) of Columbia. She is survived by husband Mark Bloom; children Michael (Kristin) Bloom and Geoffrey (Kerry) Bloom; siblings Larrie (Susan) Hurst and Al (Donna) Hurst; grandchildren Shayna, Kaylee, Lindsey, Jonathan and Andrew; brother-in-law Richard (Karen) Bloom; as well as nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by parents Joseph and Bertha Hurst. She grew up in Newton, Mass., attending Boston University and University of Maryland for her teaching degrees. It was in Newton that she met her husband Mark on a blind date in high school. They were married Aug. 16, 1967. Working at the National Education Administration, Hebrew Day School and Montgomery County Public Schools, she always seamlessly juggled the demands of her career alongside her role as a wife, mother and grandmother. She cared deeply for those around her, donating her time to the Snowden Overlook Community Association and helping friends and family whenever she could.
